Ray Lopez looks to win Fighting Spirit tournament defend and become UFC champion within 3 years

3-0 as a Pro, 14-6 as an amateur already earning KO of the night at XCC 46 Ray Lopez looks to be the Top contender in the 205 lb tournament.

Recently Canadianprofighter.com had the opportunity to sit down and have a talk with Ray Lopez and his trainers from Hamilton Karate, they had a lot of really great things to say about Fighting Spirit and Canadian Pro Fighter, so obviously I liked them right off the bat. One thing that was obvious right away is that Ray’s camp has a lot of confidence in him, his Muay Thai and stand up coach Gery Weichman said he expects Ray to be in the UFC in the main event within a year and their 205 lb Champion within 3 years.

Pretty lofty goals to have, ones that must put a lot of weight on the shoulders of Ray, or maybe not, when I asked Ray who he thought his style was most like, he just laughed and said “I don’t know; I just like to get punched in the face.” Seeing as his trainers said they thought his style was most like Forrest Griffen’s that makes a lot of sense.

With a calm demeanour on being hit by such big dudes you would think he must have grown up scrapping in the streets, but when Ray was asked about his fighting background he just said, “Yeah, I’ve been in a couple street fights, but I grew up in martial arts, Haikido, Wrestling, Jiu Jitzu, stand-up, I’ve jst always been around it.”

Ray and his team said they see him winning this whole thing, Ray said, “the only way I’ll lose if it’s a decision, I guarantee it will be the Fight of the night too; I’m coming to put on a show, KO of the night, Sub of the night, whatever it is it will be exciting!!” The whole team is expecting Ray to bring home the title; even Dan Severn UFC Hall of Famer has trained with Lopez and recommends him to any Promoter.

Ray Lopez and his team said they are committed to Canadian MMA Canadian Pro Fighter and Fighting Spirit, Ray and his camp said that when they bring home the title to Michigan you can expect it stay there and that he will be defending his belt regularly as the FIGHTING SPIRIT 205 lb Champion!!

Like the class act he is, Ray also took the time to wish his opponent good luck and to thank all of his fans for their continued support, look out for Ray Lopez in the FIGHTING SPIRIT: FURIOUS event in the 205 lb 4 man tournament, we will be there...so should you!!

  4. The NC is because he was beat but then his opponent tested for drugs so it counts as a no contest.
