The UFC has confirmed that they have released James Toney from the remaining fights under his contract.
Toney was released after his lackluster performance against Randy Couture at UFC 118.
Toney signed a multi-fight contract worth $500,000 per fight earlier this year. The UFC contract allows for the UFC to cut fighters even though they have fights remaining on their contracts.
Toney has indicated that he wants to continue his mixed martial arts career, I am sure he will have no problem finding another home (ehhem...Strikeforce) as he can definitely sell a fight, most of the world knew what was going to happen between the two aging superstars, but no one seemed to care because of how well Toney sold the fight.
