The Ultimate Fighting Championship has officially announced that in just minutes, it has sold every ticket for UFC 129, which takes place on April 30 at the Rogers Centre in Toronto. Originally, the UFC stated they would have a seating configuration of approximately 42,000 seats. But, when demand became increasingly prevalent, they ended up selling 55,000 tickets in total, with an estimated gate of over $10 million. This sets new attendance and gate records for the company, previously held by UFC 124 (23,152) and UFC 66 ($5.4 million) respectively.

“UFC continues to set new milestones,” said UFC President Dana White in a press release. “We’ve sold 55,000 tickets in our first stadium event in Toronto and we continue to take the UFC to the next level.”

White has consistently said that Ontario is the “Mecca” of mixed martial arts and the news of the sellout confirms it. Not only was it a record-setting day for the UFC, but UFC 129 is also the largest single-day event gate in the history of Rogers Centre, which has played home to some of the world’s top entertainment and sporting events.

“Based on the lightning quick sellout, there is no doubt that UFC’s fan base is extremely passionate”, said Silvio D’Addario, VP of Events for the Rogers Centre. “We’ve worked closely with UFC to configure our venue to provide the best fan experience possible and we look forward to hosting this historic event.”

Fans unable to get tickets can still attend the UFC Fan Expo held on April 29-30 at the Direct Energy Centre in Toronto. Tickets are available at ufcfanexpo.com.

UFC 129 will be headlined by a welterweight title fight between Canadian Georges St. Pierre and challenger Jake Shields. The co-main event features Jose Aldo defending his featherweight belt against Thamesford, Ontario’s Mark Hominick.
