UFC 116 Conference call Hi-lights with Brock Lesnar and Shane Carwin

UFC 116 LESNAR vs CARWIN Conference Call Hi-lights

Brock Lesnar was very animated as usual and Shane Carwin was also his usual self in very monotone and unexcitable fashion.

The Big question on everyone’s mind was answered right away by Media Rep Jennifer Wenk at the very beginning of the call and it was that Lesnar had made "A Full Recovery", but it was clear the questions were still to come about his recovery, check out our highlights from today’s teleconference call.

Lesnar’s Health

Lesnar said that he was told by the Mayo Clinic on January 5th that he was cleared to begin training again and that is exactly what he did regardless of the fact that he had lost 42 POUNDS!!

He hired new Strength and conditioning coach in Jacksonville Jaguars Luke Richardson and adopted a new diet, he claims that this illness has been a second coming for him, in his life and in his training and that it has helped him grow as a fighter and a person.

With his new diet he says it is a little bit harder to take in as many calories and that he is now healthier and just as strong as ever, but MORE explosive, he also claims to weigh 265 right now and will not be cutting any weight for this fight. He is also consuming 3200 calories a day and 300 grams of protein, yet eating much healthier, things like Broccoli, chicken breast and steamed potatoes, but his guilty pleasure is a bowl of fruity pebbles at 10 o’clock at night...I am more of a lucky charms man myself but none the less, felt a kinship right away.

The Fight

Brock said that he has some of the best training partners in the world in Cole Konrad, Chris T., and many more as well as Randy Couture for a short while, whom Lesnar called the Godfather of MMA. Lesnar also said that when Randy is there everyone just steps up their game,” it’s just something about him” Said Lesnar enthusiastically. “Randy taught me a lot of tricks” continued Lesnar. “He’s been around for years and knows all the ins and outs.”

When asked about ring rust Lesnar proclaimed, “With the guys I train with, I better not have ring rust, it’s like I have had 42 fights getting ready for this one.”

When pressed how this fight could go, lesnar replied, “This fight could go anywhere, standing, on the mat, and will be exciting wherever it ends up.” He also claimed that “I love what I do, I love to fight, to compete and he’s very happy to have this second chance.” Following his injury.

On Fedor

He says that “Of course I can beat Fedor I can beat anybody!!”

Says Fedor is the “Greatest of all time” in Fedor’s mind only, and didn’t even know Fedor was fighting this weekend.

On Canadian Healthcare

Brock claims to be on Obamacare now and is very happy with it, says he holds no animosity towards Canadian Healthcare.

Say he dislikes all Reporters even the ones he’s talking to now, then laughed.

Shane Carwin

Shane was much more reserved then Brock as seems to be his normal persona, and says that his time is spent well managed so as to be able to keep up with all the work in his life.

Shane also says that although he has been Knocking everyone out, that we have only scratched the surface to what he has to offer and that he excited to face an opponent like Brock.

Shane says that “this is a great fight, and will be one to remember”, he continued by saying “there are not many big, athletic, talented fighters like him and Brock, but he has a few to work with.”

When asked if he can KO Brock he replied by saying,

“I can Knock out anyone I touch”, but sees this fight going everywhere and that we will see the best of him in this fight.

Shane says that right now he is about 275, but by the time of weigh ins won’t have to cut more than a pound or two to make weight.

When asked about whether he thought Fedor was the best Heavyweight in the world, Shane had thing to say, “I am not concentrating on Fedor, the best fighters are here”

And I for one have to agree
