MMA’s top-ranked woman Megumi Fujii etched her name in the history books Thursday night at Bellator 32 in Lake Charles, Louisiana by becoming the first-ever MMA fighter to win 22 fights before suffering a loss – confirming her world No. 1 ranking. Fujii (22-0) accomplished the feat by defeating Lisa Ward (14-6) via first-round arm bar submission, Fujii’s second first-round arm bar submission win over Ward.
Fujii will look to extend her record win streak on Oct. 28 in Hollywood, Fla. at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino when she battles Zoila ‘Warrior Princess’ Frausto (9-1) for the first-ever Bellator Women’s World Championship. Fujii’s championship run began with a submission over Carla Esparza in Bellator 24 – Fujii’s last 10 fights have ended in stoppage.
