Ringside MMA is proud to give the top prospects in Quebec MMA a forum to showcase their talents by giving them top billing in a new series of galas which will focus on our champions of tomorrow: Rising Star. The Rising Star series will be integrated into Ringside MMA’s schedule, but will be focused solely on the next generation of MMA talent. With Ringside MMA gaining increased prominence, it was time to offer a platform in a cozy atmosphere from which talent fighters can springboard into the spotlight. It is with this in mind that Ringside MMA is happy to announce that the first in a long line of events titled “Rising Star” will take place on January 15th at Club Soda in Montreal, a club that holds a maximum capacity of 700 fight fans who will be treated to 8 electrifying fights on the night.
In the main event of the evening, a mammoth of a man in Lenard Terrance, better known as LT, will battle Robert Masson. Terrance, a native of Akwesane, who stands at 6’0” and weighs 300 pounds, will be making his professional debut when he fights Masson (1-0), a native of Terrebonne, who won his first professional fight when his opponent, Martin Trempe, was unable to answer the bell.
A lightweight grudge match will co-headline the event, as Samuel Charbonneau (1-0) from St-Jean faces Yohan Gariepy (1-2) from Victoriaville. Their first match ended in a disqualification win for Charbonneau due to a knee to the head, a call which was disputed by many at Ringside: Payback, as having only connected with his chest. Both fighters are eager to settle the score once and for all and force an ending that will be beyond reproach.
Maxime Fecteau (1-0) from Joliette and Stephane Pelletier (2-1) of Val d’Or, will prove that despite being 135 pounds, when it comes time to strap on the gloves and go to war, size is not a factor. Speed, mobility and fluid movement is the recipe for Fecteau, who is coming off a win via guillotine choke, while Pelletier holds wins over local notables Pierre-Etienne Marcoux and Francois Hache-Lacombe.
Representing Zahabi MMA is Levis Labrie (1-0) who impressed many in his win over Aaron Bellemare at Ringside: Invasion in October 2010. Surely a man who trains with Georges St-Pierre will have no fear when he steps in the ring against his next opponent, Albert Cheng (1-0). For his part, Cheng is sure to have built up his own confidence after he easily took care of business by submitting Wes Ranger in his first professional fight.
Also on the card: Tommy Cote (1-0) from Team Legion in Victoriaville facing rival Team Bergeron member, undefeated Danny St-Gelais (2-0), Gregory Carpenter (0-2) from Lachute will face Eric Daigneault (0-1), Martin Trempe (0-1) will face newcomer and BFL champ Jeff Breau (0-0), while Christ Franck (0-1) will face Alex Laramee (0-0).
Tickets, which are only 40$ for general admission, 60$ for floor level, or 80$ for VIP, can be purchased now either online at the official website for Club Soda (http://www.clubsoda.ca/fr/spec-rising_star_mma-389.php) or by telephone at (514) 286 – 1010.
