Mississauga, Ontario native Claude Patrick is set to face the Ultimate Fighter 9 winner James Wilks at UFC 120 in an exciting welterweight matchup. Both men are coming off victories at UFC 115 in Vancouver in June. Patrick (12-1) looked dominant in his promotional debut, submitting Ricardo Funch with a second round guillotine choke. Wilks, meanwhile, defeated Peter Sobotta via unanimous decision.

After his first win inside the octagon, Patrick expressed an interest in fighting rising welterweight contender Dong Hyun Kim. “I was like wow this guy has got some really unique techniques. So, I’d be honoured to be able to face a guy like that,” said Patrick. Unfortunately for him, Kim is slated to face John Hathaway on the same UFC 120 card.

Patrick is a longtime representative of the Greater Toronto Area martial arts scene and although he is not as well known as Wilks, he brings tremendous talent and experience into the cage. In his UFC debut, he had the support of a home crowd. However, the opposite will be true when he faces Wilks (7-3), as the TUF 9 champ will be fighting in front of his countrymen.

UFC 120 is tentatively scheduled for October 16 at the O2 Arena in London, England. The event will feature a bout between Michael Bisping and Yoshihiro Akiyama, as well as Dan Hardy vs. Carlos Condit.

The 30-year-old Patrick co-owns Mississauga’s Elite Training Centre in home city. For more info on Claude Patrick and the Mississauga Elite Training Centre visit www.mississaugaelite.com.
