Mark “The Machine” Hominick announced via his facebook account that his next fight in the WEC would be against
a fellow Canadian. The Thamesford, Ontario native stated, “It's official! Fighting Yves Jabouin at WEC 49 in Edmonton!!”

Hominick (17-8) is Canada’s top featherweight and is coming off two consecutive submission victories. His opponent, Jabouin, is arguably the country’s second best 145-pounder. The Montreal native is coming off a split decision loss to Rafael Assuncao at WEC 43.

Jabouin and Hominick were scheduled to fight one another at WEC 46, however an injury suffered by Jabouin forced him to withdraw from the card. Hominick instead fought Bryan Caraway, submitting him in the first round.

The organization also announced that its main event for WEC 49 would see former lightweight champion Jamie Varner take on the undefeated powerhouse Kamal Shalorus. Another fight that was made official was L.C. Davis vs. Josh Grispi.

Hominick’s training partner, Chris “The Polish Hammer” Horodecki, also announced that he has officially signed on to fight fellow lightweight Ed Ratcliff on the Edmonton card.

Tickets for WEC 49 go on sale to the general public on Saturday, April 17. For more info visit wec.tv.
