Ringside MMA announces April 10th event: RAGE

Ringside MMA is proud to announce its next MMA event, RAGE, will be held at the Maurice Richard Arena, in Montreal. With a new venue set up for a maximum capacity of 3000 fight fans, Ringside: RAGE will present a night of unforgettable fights, including 2 championship bouts featuring 2 of Quebec’s local sensations, Guillaume de Lorenzi and Guillaume Lamarche.

In a main event battle for the 155 pound belt, local Quebec hero Guillaume “Il Toro” de Lorenzi (7-1), will seek to capture his first belt when he takes on the Albertan Ryan Machan (10-3-0). De Lorenzi, whose only loss was against the UFC veteran John Koppenhaver (better known as War Machine), is still looking to break into the international MMA fight scene. Superior in all facets of the game, “Il Toro” is best known for his striking due to having ended 6 of his 8 fights by way of (T)KO. For his part, Ryan Machan is well known to Albertan fight fans, where he fought regularly for the MFC. Machan is very strong on the ground, and is coming off a key win against the veteran Kajan Johnson, who is now counted among Machan’s 8 submission victories in 13 fights. This fight is expected to be a classic striker versus grappler match up.

In the co-main event, Drummondville’s Guillaume “The Showman” Lamarche (6-2) and Mitch Gagnon (5-1) will fight for the Ringside MMA Featherweight title. Lamarche has spent his entire MMA career under the tutelage of head coach Yanick Bergeron from Team Bergeron. Despite being a formidable kickboxer, one is surprised by his versatility in winning 6 of his 8 pro MMA fights by submission. The most memorable moment to date in Lamarche’s MMA career was a win over the veteran Justin Tavernini to avenge a previous loss for his teammate Eric Leclerc. His opponent, Michel (Mitch) Gagnon trains with Team Schredder and is coming off a submission victory over Stephane Bernadel in December. Blessed with solid ground skills, will Gagnon bet his chance at gold to test those of Lamarche, who has also shown himself more than capable of winning on the mat as well?

On the main card, Derek Gauthier (5-1) will take on Jason Rorison (6-1) in the welterweight division (170 pounds). Gauthier will try to get back in the win column, as he is coming off the first loss of his career at the hands of “TNT” Tyler Jackson. Like his opponent, Jason Rorison is also coming off a loss against Sean Pierson at Ringside in August, 2009. However, only 1 of these pugilists can rediscover victory.

In a catch weight bout of 140 pounds, Pierre-Etienne “Speedy” Marcoux (2-3) from Team Bergeron will face Guillaume Fortier (1-1) representing the Nordik Fight Club in Quebec. For Marcoux, there will be no sweeter way to get back to .500 than by avenging a very close decision loss at the hands of Fortier for his teammate Eric Dumaine. The sparks will fly from this budding rivalry between these two warriors.

In a fight between 2 great young lightweight prospects, Christopher “The Tank” Boisvert (1-1) takes on the undefeated Luc Nadeau (2-0). Boisvert is looking to put the past behind him from his controversial DQ loss to Kevin Morin in August, 2009, from an illegal kick to the head. Nadeau is seeking to continue his undefeated streak from 2009, which he obtained by TKO wins over Sameeh Saleem and Rob Tracey.

Also a rising star in the RAGE fighting series, Kevin Morin (2-1) from Team Legion is looking to put a blemish on the undefeated record of Jeff Royer (2-0) from Sherbrooke. For Royer, adding Morin to his list of wins that includes Sebastien Vachon and Sebastien Deroy, will propel him quickly through the ranks of his weight class. For Morin, a win over Royer will erase the bitter memories of his last fight where he came up on the wrong end of a submission victory at the hands of Stephane Chretien in October 2009.

Back by popular demand, this event will mark the return of BTT Canada prospect Tim Wadsworth (4-0), who has not been seen in the MMA scene since February of 2009. Wadsworth had built a great reputation for himself in the Quebec MMA scene through his 4 straight 1st round stoppage victories in the octagon. He will be facing another ground specialist hailing from Manitoba in Dwight Sutherland (3-1).

Other stars that will see action on this site are: Vincent Houle, Bruno Lurette, Dany St-Gelais, Sam Larriviere, Alex Garcia, Jaret MacIntosh and Daylin Logan.
